Talk! Tuesday 25 May Professor Stefan Szymanski ‘Why England lose’
Dear Parents and Friends,
Professor Szymanski is now unfortunately unable to make the Talk! event due to take place on Tuesday 25 May. He has a commitment at the BBC. He has asked us to apologize on his behalf for any inconvenience or disappointment. He is looking forward to speaking at Hampton next year. Details will follow. Perhaps we might optimistically hope that he will be speaking on the topic: ‘Why England won’!
Yours sincerely,

Back To Our Future
8th December 2009
On January 14th 2010 there will be an amazing opportunity to visit the new 450 Hall, Hampton’s new performing arts building, and see a film made by Hampton boys and staff to commemorate the 450th anniversary in 2007.
The film explores what is special about Hampton and how some of our most recognisable OBs remember their time here. Additionally we have invited one of the most respected and motivating corporate speakers, Jim Lawless, to talk about ‘Taming Your Tiger’, a fascinating insight into how to achieve sustained change and improvement in life.
The event is raising money for two great charities, the Bursary Fund and the Shooting Star Hospice and promises to be a memorable event. There is also a chance to win an incredible prize which would be totally unavailable under normal circumstances.
If you haven’t been back for some while, or would just like a reminder of why the School is so special, then please come along. You can book tickets here: http://450hall.hamptonschool.org.uk./OscarWebServer.dll/
If you have any questions please email k.shaw

We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to Hampton on the 14th January 2010.
Sports Quiz Night
11th June 2009
SPORTS QUIZ NIGHT
Thursday 25 June – Main Hall
Hampton School is holding a Sports Quiz Night.
The Quiz is in aid of Hampton boys who will embark on the School's first major overseas football tour - to Brazil. To help offset the costs of a tour such as this, the boys have organised some fundraising activities.
The main fundraising event planned is a SPORTS QUIZ NIGHT to be held on Thursday 25 June, beginning at 7.30pm in the Main Hall. The GCSE’s and A Levels will be over and this is an ideal opportunity for everyone, OH, students and parents alike, to enjoy an evening together.
The cost of the evening is £10 per head, which will include a light supper of sandwiches and crisps. A cash bar will be operating throughout the evening.
The Quizmaster for the evening will be the voice of Champions League Football, Peter Drury. If you don’t recognise the name, you will certainly recognise the voice! Peter has also covered the last three World Cups as well as the European Championships, the Boat Race and Snooker. Computer gamers may also recognize him as the voice of the PlayStation game ‘This is Football’.
This will be a sell-out event - three quarters of the available tickets have already been sold, so please get your application in soon - If you would like to be on a table with friends, please put all the names on one application and send the total payment with the ticket request. Tables are usually for eight people, but we can combine smaller groups on your behalf.
Ticket applications should be addressed to Katherine Shaw at the School address.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact Mrs K Shaw, Events Coordinator (k.shaw
hamptonschool.org.uk) who will be happy to help.
We hope to see you for an exciting evening of Sporting Quiz Fun on 25 June!

1st XV Rugby Final
25th March 2009
Twickenham Tickets – Daily Mail Vase Final
Wednesday 1 April 2009
Dear Old Hamptonians
We are delighted to let you know that our 1st XV rugby team have won their way through to the final of the Daily Mail Vase competition, following a brilliant performance in the semi-final where they won 52-19. Many congratulations to them.
The final will be held at Twickenham Stadium on Wednesday 1 April. As this is during the Easter vacation, we realise that some of you may be on holiday. Nevertheless, we hope as many boys, parents, friends and Old Hamptonians will come along to support the team. It should be a wonderful occasion.
Our final kicks off at 2pm: there are other matches taking place both before and after if you wish to watch them.
We have been allocated some free tickets which are being offered to the current School students and staff. If there are any free tickets remaining, I will of course let you know how you can go about claiming one of them.
Tickets can also be purchased directly from the RFU (£7 adults, £4 for U16s) on 0870 1431111. Tickets may also be purchased from the Twickenham Ticket Office on the day of the game.
Tickets are for “blocks” in which supporters will be sitting: they are not for numbered seats. As we understand it, if separate people purchase tickets on different occasions, this should not prevent them sitting together.
We would like to have as big a crowd as possible to support the team so do try to come along if you can. Whether or not you are able to attend, may I take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Easter.
Yours sincerely
Katherine Shaw
